Portable Field Microscope

A portable field microscope is often a stereo microscope with a battery powered illumination source. This type of microscope is great for field nature trips or for field inspection. It could also be a simple compound light microscope with a battery powered light, as these types of microscopes are often needed to be carried direct to the location of use in the field. A rechargeable battery powered unit is commonly used. Other types may use simple disposable batteries for their power source. And other portable field microscopes may simply use the ambient natural sunlight to illuminate the specimen. The microscope should be made small and compact in design, and often have a carrying case to allow it to be transported easily.
